Accueil Springtime Family Escapade in the Loire Valley Châteaux and Gardens for adventurers of all ages
Fancy a family getaway where you can enjoy history, adventure and nature all at once? Just two hours from London, the Loire Valley is the perfect playground with fascinating châteaux and enchanting gardens. Gamebooks, treasure hunts and interactive activities transform each visit into a fun and memorable experience for both children and parents!
Châteaux for budding little explorers

Children can explore the Château de La Bussière with explanations adapted to their age, and the visit ends with a fun quiz. Then, head into the grounds to solve the amusing riddles on the Parcours des Cabanes (cabins trail)! Step into the adventures of Tintin and his friends at the Château de Cheverny before exploring the grounds in an electric boat or car. The fantastic inventions of Leonardo da Vinci will amaze people of all ages at the Château du Clos Lucé, and for some excitement, head to the Château de Villesavin for a ghost hunt, or you might prefer to try a giant escape room-style game at the Château de La Ferté-Saint-Aubin!
Medieval fortresses for young knights
Brave young knights, head to the Château de Meung-sur-Loire and the mysterious underground passageways. In the grounds, there’s an animated bestiary on the dragons’ trail, including a giant 14-metre basilisk! Find out about the professions of the Middle Ages at Montbazon Fortress and don’t miss the medieval war machine demonstrations and axe throwing. Immersive technologies at the Château de Nogent-le-Rotrou plunge children and their parents into history, while the Forteresse Royale de Chinon offers a treasure hunt and escape room for an unforgettable experience.

Châteaux fit for princes and princesses

Just as Queen Elizabeth and Lady Diana have before you, come and explore Chambord, Francis I’s château. The whole family will enjoy using the HistoPad and there’s a treasure hunt for the little ones, activities for children at the Logis des Enfants, and an equestrian show. The Château Royal de Blois has certainly left its mark on the history of France, as the former residence of seven kings and ten queens. Children can follow an adventure with sound effects, quizzes and captivating tales told by a mischievous porcupine. At the Cité Royale de Loches, the gamebook ‘Emeline & Amaury’ whisks children into the past and the mysteries of the lodgings and keep, then at the Château de Valençay, an adventure awaits in a giant maze, before stopping by to visit the farm animals.
Enchanted gardens for budding gardeners
The gardens at the Château de Villandry are iconic in the Loire Valley and visitors of all ages are enchanted by the vegetable garden and countless vegetables that grow there. After that, have fun getting lost in the medieval-inspired maze. Will you be able to find your way out? At the Parc Floral de La Source in Orléans, children can explore the butterfly house, have fun at the playgrounds and meet the animals at the petting zoo. Magical adventures await in the Château du Rivau gardens. Children can dress up for the visit as knights or princesses (costumes on loan). As for the International Garden Festival at the Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire, the whole family can expect a colourful and creative adventure at every turn.
