THE GARDENS OF ROQUELIN: PERFECTLY ORDERED CHAOS
Stéphane Chassine has passionately nurtured the roses in the Gardens of Roquelin for over 20 years. When he bought the farm in 2002, there was just a field here. On the banks of the Loire, this English-garden enthusiast patiently built and planted this place like a family garden. He has created an ordered jumble of perennials, delphiniums, perennial geraniums, irises, sages, euphorbias, shrubs and, above all, hundreds of roses, including climbing roses that wrap around chestnut tree pergolas.
FIFTY SHADES OF ROSES IN THE GARDENS OF ROQUELIN
Here, frilly and pastel-coloured heirloom roses thrive, filling the space and creating a magical, colourful scene as their delicate fragrances waft through the air. The garden is small but there are plenty of different areas where you can stop and soak up the romantic atmosphere. Everywhere you look, the colours of the flowers in the Gardens of Roquelin harmonise, contrast and blend with each other. Everything has been designed to create the perfect picture and procure an enduring sense of joy.
Among the 450 varieties of fragrant roses, Stéphane Chassine’s favourite is the delicate pastel pink Duchesse de MonteBello, but you will also find Yolande d’Aragon, Cuisse de Nymphe, Guirlande d’Amour, Aimable Amie and Ballerina… You could easily get lost in the fragrant groves that each remind us a little of our childhood!

You will find the pretty roses from the garden in our plant nursery. Choose from a range of shrub, climbing and bush roses to create your own little paradise at home! It is also worth noting that the nursery is open outside of the garden opening times (please telephone beforehand).
