THE ARBORETUM OF LES GRANDES BRUYÈRES: PRESERVING THE BEAUTY OF THE WORLD

As you walk through the Arboretum of Les Grandes Bruyères, it is difficult to imagine that, nearly 40 years ago, this site was just brambles and bushes. Today, in the heart of the forest of Orléans, this space has become an ecological conservatory and a haven of peace for birds. Over 100 species have been identified here and their song accompanies every visit!

THE ARBORETUM OF LES GRANDES BRUYÈRES, AN OPEN-AIR MUSEUM

This oasis of greenery is home to many collections of plants, flowers and trees. Fragrant roses, delicate magnolias, groves of Chinese and flowering dogwood and exotic species line the grassy alleys, but that is not all: there are also many varieties of cypresses, spruces, pines and firs.

Like the pages of a life-size photo album, each area showcases species from the different continents: Europe, North America and the Far East.

At the Arboretum of Les Grandes Bruyères, you can stroll freely between gardens and woodland.

The Arboretum of les Grandes Bruyères, colours in every sEASON

In spring, the pastel colours of the magnolias and dogwood take centre stage while in autumn, the trees that blossomed in spring are adorned with a thousand fiery colours. Different shades of red, orange and yellow are everywhere, transforming the autumn days into a magical experience. As for the heather, it is the star of the show with its soft shades of pink, mauve, white and salmon. The arboretum is also a celebration of smells, combining moss, mushrooms and bark.

BIODIVERSITY AT THE HEART OF THE ARBORETUM OF LES GRANDES BRUYÈRES

At the Arboretum of Les Grandes Bruyères, preserving the forest environment and natural balances is a priority, and the use of chemicals, fertilisers or weed killers is strictly forbidden. This approach ensures a perfect habitat for birds, insects and other animals.
