Just next to the manor, a modern rose garden with delicate pastel hues surrounds a small pond. In the park, shade-loving plants thrive in the patches of sun piercing through the canopy of the tall trees. A little further on, the Italian garden with its two cypresses will immediately remind you of the rolling Tuscany landscape. Next comes the Japanese garden with its charming little stream running between rocks of slate, while the 100m-long and aptly named Crazy Hedge composed of topiary yew trees is a medley of astonishing forms. THE BOTANICAL ROSE COLLECTION OF THE GARDENS OF LA JAVELIÈRE
As you wander through the “rosarium”, you will discover that the botanical roses are in fact wild roses, and there’s plenty of them! You will be charmed by the shimmering colours of this remarkable, patiently assembled collection. In total, there are nearly 350 taxons of botanical roses from different continents to admire. The collection is recognised by the CCVS (Conservatory of Specialist Plant Collections) and is particularly beautiful in spring and autumn when it bursts into a spectacular display of colour!
