Located in the very heart of the Loire Valley, the city of Blois testifies to the fabulous history of the Loire Châteaux. In this City of Art and History, make sure you see the old town, lively city centre and beautiful buildings. The royal château, which was home to King Francis I, is just as prestigious as the nearby Château of Chambord and the Château of Cheverny.

THE ROYAL CHÂTEAU OF BLOIS FROM THE SKY

From atop its rocky promontory, the Royal Château of Blois overlooks the city and the Loire. Each of the four facades features a distinct style, providing a true panorama of French architecture and the history of the Loire Châteaux.

The Royal Château can also boast that it was the only one to have been home to no fewer than 10 queens and 7 kings, including Louis XII and Francis I, his nephew and successor.

These two sovereigns literally added their own touch to the building. Louis XII added a wing to the château, while Francis I enhanced the royal court with a stunning staircase.

BLOIS, A CITY TO EXPLORE ON FOOT OR IN A HORSE-DRAWN CARRIAGE

But the city of Bois offers far more than the château. To learn about all the history of its prestigious past, we recommend attentively exploring this city, where time seems to mysteriously stand still.

Perhaps you will learn the secret to this mystery at the House of Magic. Located on the Place du Château, it will introduce you to the art of illusion through exhibitions and shows.
