Voie verte

This old railway line is today a linear walking route, more than 7km long, extending along the river Creuse and towards the Anglin Valley and department of la Vienne. The low gradient and safe route make it an ideal walk for families.

Description

Until the 1950s, Le Blanc was an important railway communication hub. More used today, these tracks and their right-of-ways have been converted into a 70 km long walking route, reserved for cyclists and pedestrians (by bike, preferably using a VTC or mountain bike). Its railway past makes it an easily accessible route, dotted with villages and with no particular relief.
Numerous villages offer cafés and restaurants for a comforting stop or a purpose of stroll.
The entire greenway is rolling but not recommended for racing bikes. The Le Blanc / Ruffec route is accessible to roller skaters and people with reduced mobility. Horse riding is forbidden unless authorised.
