The park and gardens of the Château of Bouges: flowers, flowers and more flowers!

A replica of the Petit Trianon of Versailles, the Château of Bouges is surrounded by a vast park and stunning gardens. The French-style garden, the colourful flower garden and the large English-style park blend to form a harmonious whole that is pleasant to walk round in all seasons.

Regularity in the French-style gardens

Bouges

In the French-style gardens, which were redesigned by the famous landscape designer Achille Duchêne, the box borders and cone-shaped yews are symbolic of refinement and elegance, while the delicate plant embroidery is a sight you will never tire of!

In the shade of the great trees in the English-style park

Planted around a lake, the vast English-style park covers 80 hectares and is home to rare species. Its paths alternate shade and light. In warm weather, the coolness provided by the large trees makes for a pleasant walk away from the crowds. In autumn, the immense landscape park is ablaze with beautiful colours as sweetgums, tulip trees, beeches and many other varieties light up the surface of the lake with fiery shades of gold and copper.

An explosion of colours in the Flower Garden

On the other side of the château, the Flower Garden offers an explosion of colours! Orange, pink, yellow, violet, red… the different shades and hues blend together in a colourful picture as a succession of tulips, dahlias, irises, roses of Sharon and many other species flower throughout the year. With great care, the gardeners tend their flowers to compose spectacular bouquets to adorn the rooms of the château. In the beautifully restored greenhouses, meanwhile, a multitude of rare and exotic plants flourish.
