Exposition Fantaisies pour un palais

In this touring exhibition, discover gardens from the Middle Ages to the present day, through a series of artistic creations and video installations that first evoke the medieval garden, the place of courtly love; then the Renaissance garden, populated by nymphs, grottoes and fountains; then the Baroque garden, like a theatrical set where the marvelous emerges. This journey through gardens continues with the 18th-century English garden, with its landscapes composed like paintings, the "natural" garden imagined in the 19th century, the painter?s garden, and the enchanted gardens of fairy tales. Whether real or dreamed of, gardens remain an inexhaustible source of inspiration for artists, who encourage us to cross their thresholds.
