This course will teach you how to search for and identify different species of butterflies, and introduce you to the astonishing world of moths. The field approach of this course focuses on understanding the relationships between butterflies and their habitats, with particular emphasis on the notion of host plants for caterpillars. The application of various study protocols to a wide range of environments will enable trainees to become autonomous in this field, whether for professional purposes or for their own enjoyment! Targeted skills: recognizing butterflies and identifying species, identifying major habitat types and a range of host plants, understanding the links between species and their environments, applying inventory protocols.
