Professional or amateur orthopterists, naturalists curious about entomology, this course is for you. Supervised by Julien Barataud, professional naturalist.

The inventory methods generally used for orthopterans (daytime surveys, by sight or by ear, mostly in herbaceous habitats) are often much more effective for locusts than for grasshoppers. Many of them go unnoticed due to their predominantly nocturnal activity, their preference for shrub or tree strata and the higher frequency of their stridulations, many of which are inaudible to the human ear. Studying them with an ultrasound detector makes it considerably easier to detect many species. This training course will introduce you to all the concepts required to identify the various
species.
