Grasshoppers, crickets and locusts make up the orthopteran group. Supervised by Stéphane Jaulin, entomologist and entomological officer at OPIE.

Orthopterans are one of the most studied groups among insects in ecosystem monitoring, both in terms of food potential and ecology. Excellent bio-indicators, they are also a model of choice in the study of management and conservation of open spaces. Aimed at beginners, this course offers an overview of the world of orthopterans. Courses on their biology and ecology, systematics, their usefulness in the management of environments and preservation will alternate with practical work in the field and in the classroom.
