Domaine Philippe Gilbert

Presentation

In the Menetou-Salon appellation, in the center of the Loire Valley, on sedimentary terroirs of the Kimmeridgien, the Domaine Philippe Gilbert produces fresh and elegant wines, made from pinot noir and sauvignon grapes. A craft work based on the principles of biodynamic agriculture.
The story began in 1768, when François Gilbert left his job as a tavernkeeper to take over the vineyards from his father-in-law. But it was not until the beginning of the 20th century that the estate was designed in its current configuration and built by Philippe Gilbert, the current owner's grandfather.
The model chosen is simple and still relevant: a vast rectangular courtyard with the dwelling house at the back and two long buildings that frame it on either side. On the right, the cellars and the reception of the grapes, connected underground to the vaulted cellars. On the left, the order preparation, storage and visitor reception areas.
