Visite guidée du Blanc

Discovery trail of the low town and of the high town (City Hall, church Saint Génitour, Château Naillac…)
Descriptif patrimoine :
The course of the Creuse River, dividing the town in half, influenced all its history: the Low Town, in the North, was built around the Church Saint-Génitour, along the Roman Road. It was dependent on the province of the Berry Region. The High Town, in the South, was located over the limestone hillsides surrounding two fortresses: château Naillac, in the Berry Region and the château Donjon in the Poitou Region which has disappeared. In the Middle Ages, a bridge linked both towns but it was brought down by a flood in 1530. For 300 years, people crossed the Creuse River on a ferry. The bridge was only rebuilt at the beginning of the 19th century, leading to great town-planning work which gave Le Blanc its current aspect.
