When her grandmother died, Aurore Dupin (who was to become George Sand) received Nohant as part of her inheritance. A lovely mansion surrounded by a park in which the author enjoyed strolling but in which she also devoted herself to gardening and botany. Nohant inspired many artists: Balzac, Dumas, Chopin, Delacroix, Flaubert… You can admire an exhibition which displays over a hundred puppets made by the author and her son and the decoration of their theatre which came to life every evening in Nohant. Georges Sand died in 1876, her body rests in the small enclosure dedicated to her family, on the side of the garden.
