in LE MAGNY

Eglise Saint-Michel

The church in Le Magny is situated on a hill, like all sites dedicated to the Archangel, and belonged to Déols Abbey.
Descriptif patrimoine :
Mutilated over the centuries, it still has splendid Romanesque parts: the choir, the remains of its transept cross-over date back to the 11th century and have capitals with human figures (priest with a chalice, character with an ox, mermaid). The level of this whole part of the building was raised, while the walls were elevated for the sake of defense. The sacristy occupies one of the apse chapels grafted on the old transept. The nave, rebuilt after destruction in the 15th century, is closed by a bell tower that serves as a porch. In the choir, the window splayings are adorned with effigies of characters with halos. The whole building deserves restoration.
