The Loire Valley by train

Travelling by train is a good way of discovering the Loire Valley. The Interloire line running between Orléans and Nantes (and which even goes as far as Le Croisic) stops at Beaugency, Blois, Amboise, Tours, Saumur, Angers and Ancenis. These iconic cities are surrounded by Loire Valley wildlife, Loire châteaux, small attractive villages and the flourishing life of the Loire and its affluents that make up the variety of landscapes you will pass as you journey along the line.

Trains are an ideal mode of transport for anyone wishing to visit the Loire Valley. From your carriage along the Interloire line from Orléans to Le Croisic you will be able to admire plenty of Loire Valley scenery. Walkers can cross the Loire Valley in stages thanks to the large number of train stations along the line, and cyclists can take their bikes onto the TER trains for free in order to arrive at the next stop in their adventure!

Discover the Loire Valley by train, from city to city

The Loire Valley is interspersed with train stations. Besides those in Orléans, Beaugency, Blois, Amboise, Tours, Saumur and Angers, there are also stations in Les Rosiers-sur-Loire, Savennières-Béhuard, Oudon and Saint-Nazaire to name just a few. They will allow you to visit Loire châteaux, authentic villages and Loire Valley vineyards.

As well as being practical and ecological, the train is a good means of transport for discovering all the attractive Loire Valley landscapes, and it even passes right next to the river along some sections of track.

For those with a smart phone, the "le Val de Loire vu du train" (Loire Valley from the train) application will accompany you throughout your journey. Designed like a guide, it provides information on sites of interest that you will see from aboard the train or when you alight. The application currently only exists for the stretch of line between Tours and Saumur, but the sections between Blois and Angers and Orléans and Nantes are currently being created.
