Réserve Naturelle Nationale de Chérine

With an area of 371ha, it includes one of the last reed beds of the Brenne Region. Respecting the balance between nature and the intervention of mankind, it provides a home for remarkable fauna and flora which you may discover during a guided activity or from observation spots.
Since 1985, the Chérine Nature Reserve has been protecting species and maintaining the natural environments that make it up, from reedbeds to meadows, including peaty willow and moorland. Extensive grazing and selective fish farming allow the safeguard of the most threatened species, easily observable from the various observatories. The Maison de la Nature et de la Réserve offers a discovery area to meet the concerns of naturalists and all visitors who are sensitive to the beauty of the natural environment of the Brenne. It is at dawn or at dusk that the nature of Brenne reveals itself the most: purple herons, egrets, black-necked grebes… take full advantage of the tranquillity of the ponds.
