Les Prairies du Nahon

At the foot of the time-honoured stones of the Château of Valençay and the trees in its park, there are four meadows (40 ha). Some are home to cows while others a reserved for wildlife and nature: rare plants, small ponds with frogs and dragonflies, fish spawning grounds etc.
In this very green world, history can be breathed: washhouse, millstream, ditch… tell the story of the life that, yesterday, was along the Nahon; in a meadow, the presence of a few lime trees reminds us that in the time of Talleyrand, the park of the castle widened as far as the river… On one of the plots, a path has just opened. It runs along the trees along the banks of the bief and the Nahon, and crosses, via a pile, a field of sweet-smelling water mint. So close to the city, this site, classified as a Sensitive Natural Area, offers an immersion in the green, natural life and tranquillity.
