Les Marais de Contres

This marshland is the largest in the Centre – Loire Valley Region. It is located west of Dun-sur-Auron and north of the village of Contres. It occupies a very little marked depression in the lacustrine limestones of Berry, drained by the Marais stream.
This wetland is home to wet meadows at Molinie, alkaline marshes colonized by megaphorbia, and patches of Cladium mariscus. There is a closure of some parts of the grasslands and market gardening patches. The marsh of Contres is home to many important and protected species. Because of its ownership and its development, it is of historical and landscape interest.
