Country outing on the edge of La Brenne – trail no.12

Head out along this easy trail to explore the so-called "tail of La Brenne". This unusual patch of land is home to fewer ponds than La Brenne itself but more fields of crops and woodland. The trail criss-crosses these characteristic landscapes. Kick off and round off your outing amid fields of crops and grassland. The D21 "farm road" leads to a wood that provides welcome shade from the height of summer heat. After Luant, treat yourself to a break at Duris pond, a short distance away from the trail. There's a wonderful reedy marsh where you can keep an eye out for all sorts of bird species, and you can also tuck into a picnic while you're at it.
