Description

Places of remembrance are usually anonymous, yet they are an integral part of our historical heritage. Working to commemorate also means knowing these sites where history was written, adding a few pages to our national history. This tour lists the places of memory in the north of the Indre. It is not intended to be exhaustive, but tries to give the widest possible range of the different actions that took place during this period from June 1940 to August 1944. This tour has a dual purpose, of remembrance, but also educational. Twenty panels are set up in the canton of Saint-Christophe-en-Bazelle and neighbouring cantons. A maquis hut has been rebuilt in the middle of the Vermusse forest.
