Trésor de la Cathédrale

Located at the chevet of Chartres Cathedral (13th century), this jewel of 14th-century architecture, adorned with a magnificent collection of antique stained glass windows, was, from the 1970s to the early 2000s, the setting for the precious and rare works that make up the treasure known since 1323.
Description
Harmonious restoration has restored a true visitor experience. The work also focused on the interior, with restoration of the facings. In particular, a splendid and fascinating cycle of paintings dating from the 1320s was uncovered, recounting the traditions of the Chartres church. Of particular note among these paintings is the discovery of the earliest representation of Chartres Cathedral, sketched during construction by several stonemasons, in the presence of the Virgin Mary, according to Chartres legend. Most of the stained glass windows date from the mid-14th century, and have also been restored. 4 contemporary windows are the work of Korean artist Bang Hai Ja.
