Accueil Organise your stay Visits Museums & interpretation centres The Saint-Roch Hospice Museum
The Saint-Roch Museum, installed in an old Hôtel Dieu Hospital, has a collection of pharmacy furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as a lapidary collection from the 13th and 15th centuries and two monumental sculptures representing the Tree of Jesse in the 15th-century chapel.
Description
The museum is made up of an old Hôtel Dieu Hospital founded in the 12th century, extended and modified until the 19th century. Its flamboyant Gothic-style chapel has retained its stained-glass windows, polychrome cornices, Fleurs de Lys wall and a sculpted ensemble with two monumental sculptures of the Tree of Jesse. Visible from the outside, the 17th-century Apothecary House has on display 379 Nevers-pottery jars and its original furniture. The herb garden is opposite, in the centre of the courtyard. A modern building was built in 2002, extended in 2007, designed by the architect Pierre Colboc. In this, the public are invited to visit the different modern art exhibitions scheduled throughout the year, in addition to visual arts workshops for all ages.
