About the garden/park :
The Parc Botanique du Prieuré d'Orchaise overlooks the Cisse valley, opposite the Blois national forest. It is bordered by a Priory originally built in the 11th century, then renovated in the 19th century. The park contains over 2,500 varieties of plants from all over the world, centred around a cedar of Lebanon over 200 years old. Visitors and enthusiasts alike will appreciate the harmonious assemblages of peonies, magnolias, hornbeams, maples and cherry blossom trees, the lotus and water lily ponds, and the countless rare rose bushes and shrubs, selected for their beauty. Month after month, the blooms, bark, fragrances and sumptuous autumn foliage create a marvellous spectacle. In 1993, this park won the First Prize of the Société Nationale d'Horticulture de France.
