The Botanical Park of the Orchaise Priory overlooks the Cisse Valley. It is bordered by a 11th century priory, restored during the 19th century. The park contains more than 2,500 varieties of plants from all around the world, growing in the shade of a Lebanese cedar aged over 200 years old.
Description
Entrance in the square in front of the church. In its 3 hectare park, overlooking the Cisse Valley and nestled against a romanesque bell tower constructed in 1060 par the Marmoutier monks, Hubert Treuille has united more that 2,200 trees and bushes from all over the world. The park has a very larg collection of pionies (bushes and plants), rhododendrons, softwoods, crabapple trees, dogwoods, evergreens, ash trees, oak trees, and colored maple treeps. In 1993 this park won the French National Horticulture Society's grand prize. Self visit.
