The largest megalithic monument in Berry.
Description
Contrary to common belief, this dolmen known as the Pierre Levée (the raised stone) due to the tilted position of one of its horizontal stones, does not date from the Gallic period and was not used as an altar by druids for the sacrifice of young virgins. It was a covered alleyway, probably initially buried under a mound, erected between 4700 and 2500 BC and leading to a prehistoric tomb. Its impressive size makes it the largest dolmen in Indre, covering over 58m² and measuring more than 10m by 5.70m.
