Description
Châteaumeillant, which has been occupied since antiquity, sits upon the remains of the oppidum of Mediolanum, occupied in turn by the Gauls and the Gallo-Romans.
The discovery of cellars containing several hundred amphorae and, more recently, numerous Gallo-Roman wells harbouring objects of extreme beauty and rarity, make Mediolanum a unique site.
Modern museography, a video projection room, touch-screen tablets and interactive models allow the visitor to learn about more than 2,000 years of local history in an educational way.
