Musée des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France

This museum pays tribute to the expertise and talent of exceptional craftsmen. Each item exhibited has been produced in accordance with the proper rules and is testimony to many years of learning. Everyday objects become masterpieces. The exhibition space highlights a trade activity.
Description
Opened in 1995, it is housed in a historic building built in the 17th century by architect Bullet to serve as a palace for the Archbishop of Bourges. The "One of the Best Workers of France" competition, created in 1924, made it possible to reward the best representatives of some 220 trades. It reflects the maintenance of a tradition of quality. The museum responds to a local desire to create a Museum of Excellence following the acquisition by the city of a collection of miniature furniture, and combines tradition and modernity by presenting permanent or temporary exhibitions that illustrate the creative capacity of the Best Workers of France and the technological changes they initiate and in which they participate.
