Description
Dreux Museum has an exceptional collection of paintings and sculptures with works by Monet, Le Sidaner, Vernet, Granet, Pradier or Vlaminck. The Religious Art Room presents some rare Romanesque capitals, such as one showing the Virgin Mary breast feeding Baby Jesus, and quite remarkable 13th century stained glass. The Decorative Arts section has furnishings and objects from famous châteaux in the surrounding area, such as Crécy, property of the illustrious Marquise de Pompadour. The Archaeology Room has some of the finest and most unusual items in the collection, such as a pair of Merovingian ear-rings with a most contemporary design! Finally, Contemporary Art gives a new dimension to this dynamic museum.
