On 25th August 1944, while Paris celebrated its liberation, 124 inhabitants of the village were tracked down and massacred by German troops. The Maison du Souvenir is an innovative place of remembrance where culture and education mingle. Temporary exhibitions.
About the monument :
On August 25th 1944, while Paris was celebrating the liberation, 124 inhabitants of the Maillé village were killed by the retreating Nazi troops. Combining culture and education, the Maison du Souvenir invites visitors to go beyond this tragic civilian massacre. With over 250 documents, objects and films, this living memorial also relates the history of the Resistance in Touraine and in France.
