Description
Located in the Loiret department in the Centre-Val de Loire region, Ferrières-en-Gâtinais is a small French commune in the heart of the Gâtinais. In the middle of this rural setting, you can find an old royal Benedictine abbey which was founded by Clovis in the Carolingian era. There is also the Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul abbey church from the 12th and 15th centuries and the Notre-Dame-de-Bethléem sanctuary from the 9th to 17th centuries. Ferrières-en-Gâtinais was an important place of pilgrimage for the kings of France, and is today a nugget of our heritage.
