The dam on the Creuse river was constructed in 1926 as one of the largest hydroelectric dams in Europe. The reservoir forms a lake called Lac de Chambon (312 hectares) which offers a very large choice of leisure and water sports activities for the whole family.
Description
When it was built, the Eguzon dam was one of the largest in Europe. Commissioned in 1926, the six generators in the plant below the dam produced the equivalent of the annual consumption of a town of 47,000 inhabitants (Châteauroux).
