Crypte et Tour de la Cathédrale

A Low Church houses the first Romanesque crypt where the relics of Saint Etienne were exhibited, a tomb of the Renaissance period in the rotunda and the fragments of the famous Jubé which separated the choir from the nave in the 13th century. Enjoy the splendid view.
Description
The crypt had to allow the elevation of the choir to the desired level. The tomb of the Duke of Berry and the tombs of many archbishops are preserved here. A 16th-century Holy Sepulchre is exhibited under a canopy set with caissons. Since 1994, the remains of the cathedral's rood screen have been placed here by the Louvre Museum. This cathedral, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is unique in its architectural design with a layout without a transept. A Gothic art masterpiece. It has exceptional stained glass windows and its astronomical clock is the oldest in France.
