Château of Talcy

The tapered roofs of the château stand out above the Beauce plains. This fortified house built in the 16th century by banker Salviati was the theater of the love story between Cassandra Salviati and the poet Ronsard in the 16th century.
Description
Although contemporaneous with the great chateaux of the Loire Valley, Talcy always spurned Italian fashions and complex decoration. The wells, commons with their own fruit press and dovecot, and the one-time garden (which is now an orchard) attest to the estate’s agricultural origins. The château has conserved its original interior layout, furnishings and unique painting decoration from the 18th century. This château was the theatre of the love story between Ronsard and Cassandre, which inspired the poet the famous ode «Mignonne, allons voir… ».
