Château of Cheverny

Présentation

This private château is still lived in; it is the most beautifully furnished château in the Loire Valley. It served as a model to Hergé for Moulinsart, Tintin's château. It is surrounded by a park, part of which – 6 different gardens and the kennel – can be visited.
About the monument :
A private château still inhabited by the same family, it is open to the public every day of the year. Cheverny is considered to be the most magnificently furnished château in the Loire Valley. Gobelin and Flanders tapestries, Louis XIV and Louis XV chests of drawers, Louis XV regulator, the King's bedroom… and a thousand other marvels will enchant you. The Château de Cheverny served as a model for Hergé's Moulinsart castle. The permanent exhibition ‘The Secrets of Moulinsart’ takes visitors on a life-size tour of the events that took place in this legendary place. Discover the castle's superb grounds by electric car and boat (April to November). Enjoy a sweet or savoury, gourmet or thirst-quenching break at the Café de l'Orangerie (April to November).
About the garden/park :
When you come to the château, stroll to your heart's content in the 6 themed gardens, each with its own colours and scents: get lost in the labyrinth, observe the perfect symmetry of the formal garden in the apprentice garden, discover the combination of vegetables and flowers in the flower garden, marvel at the ribbon of 250,000 tulips in spring, enjoy a moment of sweetness with the 6 sculptures by Gudmar Olovson in the Garden of Love, on the banks of the pond, and eat your way through the garden. 000 tulips in spring, enjoy a moment of sweetness with the 6 sculptures by Gudmar Olovson that stand in the Jardin de l'Amour, on the banks of the pond, and feast your eyes on the brand new Jardin Sucré, a French-style orchard that extends over one hectare.
