Accueil Chapelle Saint-Sulpice
Small 16th-century building, built in Brenne sandstone, located in a clearing of the Lancosme Forest.
Description
This small, very simple 16th century building, built of Brenne sandstone, is set in a clearing in the heart of the Lancosme Forest. The legend tells that a young shepherd, intrigued by the strange behaviour of the finest ox in his herd – he was constantly turning around a bush, without eating but without languishing – discovered the corpse of St. Sulpice, the former archbishop of Bourges. A burial was given to the holy man and, at the place indicated by the animal, a spring sprung to which was attributed the virtue of healing pain (or childrens' convulsions).
