During the Middle Ages, the abbey was one of the most powerful in Touraine. The great names of the Loire Valley will be very easily accessible: Chenonceau, Amboise, Loches, Azay-le-Rideau, Villandry, Beauval Zoo, the historic centre of Tours and also, a little further on, Chambord, Blois and Chaumont-sur-Loire.
