Soirées d'été en Rabelaisie : Pièce "Les Midinettes"
Today, in central France. The "Marilou" factory, one of the jewels in the crown of women?s underwear production, is closing its doors. Its two hundred workers are brutally laid off. Determined to fight for their jobs and their dignity, they decide to occupy the factory. "Les midinettes" tells the story of this twenty-seven-day epic, made up of laughter and cries of anger, disillusionment and bursts of hope. They tell the story of a struggle for life.
Jacques Hadjaje’s theater is profoundly humanistic and resolutely joyful. It’s a theater of resistance, of refusal to accept fate, that questions the notion of social and family determinism: who decides our lives? Even if history – our history – often seems to have been written in advance, does not belong to us?
