Observation of a large variety of ducks and waders during the winter, season during which they leave the polar circle to stay in Brenne.
When the Siberian anticyclone blows in the cold, northern birds leave the Arctic Circle to migrate further south and stay in Brenne. Winter is therefore an ideal time to discover migratory or wintering species, some of which take advantage of the mudflats that appear as ponds are fished and probe the mud for small prey, while others harpoon a few fish that have fallen asleep in the cold. The Terres et étangs de Brenne Massé-Foucault Regional Nature Reserve is one of the most attractive sites for migrating and wintering waterfowl.
