On September 20 and 21, 2025, the Briare lift factory opens its doors to you on the occasion of the European Heritage Days. Come and discover this exceptional industrial structure, linked to the operation of the famous Briare Bridge-Canal, which is usually closed.
Visit of the elevator factory: its history, its operation. The elevatory factory, built in 1895 by the engineers La Vallée and Huet, participates in the water supply of the Briare canal by pumping water from the Loire to the level of the sharing reach, 45 m higher. The pumping station is an emblematic heritage of the city of Briare with its typical 19th century architecture. VNF agents will welcome you to discover this river industrial heritage. Free visit.
