More than 15 years after her debut album, she is finally ready to tackle the emotional charge of these jazz standards: "My voice has matured, and so have I. I felt that, at this point in my life, these lyrics had meaning for me, and I could interpret these stories, because I had the right to do so. It's not like I'm a 20-year-old singer who doesn't really understand or perhaps hasn't yet experienced the loss of a loved one or true love. And so I felt that, at my age and with this acquired maturity, I was ready to return to this music and this repertoire.
