The museum is honoring the painter-poet Henri Michaux (1899-1984) with a tribute exhibition, celebrating the fortieth anniversary of his death as well as the centenary of the Surrealist Movement, as defined by André Breton in 1924, a movement to which he was close…
Born in Namur in 1899 and deceased in Paris in 1984, the Franco-Belgian artist left his mark on the century through his research during his travels, his many encounters and his countless plastic and literary explorations.
With 46 original works, acquired by purchase or donation, the museum holds an important collection of original works by Henri Michaux. Exhibited in two rooms of the museum from February 9 to December 29, 2024, they form the exhibition itinerary, tracing in filigree the contours of the artist?s life.
