Exposition George Sand et la peinture

The exhibition questions the preconceived notion that George Sand is considered a great figure of feminism. An independent woman, through her work and her morals, she defied the prohibitions of a bourgeois, misogynist century, by wearing pants despite the ban or living apart from her husband. The exhibition explores her commitment to improving her own condition and that of her fellow women, her role in the debate on women's suffrage, and compares her with other female figures of her time, whose ideas were sometimes more progressive.
