In the advanced or terminal stages of a lethal disease, it is not uncommon for a patient to express a "wish to die". This is always a particularly complex subject, from a relational, emotional, ethical and clinical point of view. When faced with these words, what are the possible readings, definitions and support?
In most situations, the role of doctors and nurses is to assess, listen and understand, as part of a diagnostic approach, but also to provide relief, support and, in some cases, make decisions, as part of a supportive approach.
