Conceived in 1892 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, The Nutcracker is a timeless ballet that transports you to Hoffmann's fairy tale, "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King".
The Nutcracker breathed new life into ballet. It was thanks to him that modern Russian ballet was born. It allowed the emergence of the musical art of Stravinsky, Prokofiev and Shostakovich.
The story begins when Clara receives a present from her Uncle Drosselmeyer: a nutcracker in the shape of a soldier. At midnight, a magical world opens up for Clara. Her nutcracker comes to life as a proud soldier, defending her against the Mouse King.
