Méthodes d'étude et de détection des micromammifères

Presentation

Discover the diversity of small mammals and all the techniques used to detect them. Led by Hélène Dupuy, independent mammologist and member of the Société Française pour l'Etude et la Protection des Mammifères, and Franck Simonnet, mammalogist with the Groupe Mammalogique Breton.
Small mammals (rodents and small Eulypotyphyla) include a multitude of species with varied and often discreet habits. Most have no status, and are little studied overall. Some are protected (Crossopes, Pyrenean Desman, Amphibian Vole) and benefit from special conservation programs. Many species are closely linked to a particular habitat or food resource, which can make them indicative of the quality of an environment, but also vulnerable to local and global threats. We have a real responsibility towards these species, whether in terms of improving knowledge, protecting them or implementing appropriate management measures for their conservation.
