Etang de Rongères
This large 15-hectare pond, rich in a variety of fish species, lies between La Châtre and Sainte-Sévère, between the RD 84 and RD 917 roads, just over 4 km north of the village of Sainte-Sévère.
It is part of a bocage landscape. The pond, which is open to the public, is relatively busy. The water level doesn't drop very much in summer, but is sufficiently low to allow shorelines to form and amphibious vegetation to develop.
There are relatively few biologically interesting ponds in this part of Boischaut Sud.
The fish population is of the cyprino-esocicultural type, dominated by white fish (roach, bleak, bream, carp) and carnivorous fish (pike, zander, black bass). Recreational fishing is relatively well developed in this region, despite the private nature of the watercourses, undoubtedly linked to this satisfactory fish population.
