Chantier Rempart

Presentation

Consolidation of the ruins of the fortress of Cluis-Dessous by a workcamp of young French and foreign volunteers, under the aegis of Rempart.
The access and the visit of the site are possible, on request, on the spot.
Built following two feudal mottes, the construction of this fortress extended between the 12th and 15th centuries. Possessed by the Déols and then the Chauvignys, Cluis-Dessous was one of their favourite residences, and Guy II of Chauvigny died there in 1422. The site was gradually abandoned at the beginning of the 16th century and became a romantic ruin, the setting for the Theatre of the Living Book. It dominates the Bouzanne Valley.
