Park and garden of the château of la Bussière
Come and linger in the kitchen garden at the Château of La Bussière. Its different sections are laid out just as they were in the 18th century and are home to a harmonious collection of fruit, flowers, traditional vegetables and aromatic plants.
An extraordinary kitchen garden
Situated at the foot of the elegant red-brick château, this lavish kitchen garden stretches out over 1.5 hectares and is entirely enclosed by a wall. The paths are bordered by fruit trees, with espalier or cordon-trained and pruned apple and pear trees bearing unusual names such as “Cuisse Madame”, “Sucrée de Gien” and “Sept en gueule”.
Traditional vegetables are also given pride of place, with different varieties including cardoons, rutabagas and Kohlrabi. Some patches contain aromatic and medicinal plants. In this garden, “companion” plants have been carefully selected and planted together to protect each other from attack by pests.
Treats in the garden
Come and enjoy picking fruit in the red fruit orchard in summer! Fill the tubs provided with blackcurrants, redcurrants, raspberries and jostaberries. These berries will make delicious deserts!
The Château of La Bussière organises numerous events all year round to enjoy with the family.
