MUSEE DE MEUNG SUR LOIRE - ESPACE CULTUREL LA MONNAYE

MEUNG-SUR-LOIRE - 45

Discover the life and work of the "Gars qu'a mal tourné". Gaston Couté (1880-1911) spent his entire childhood in Meung-sur-Loire at La Corne du Bois and the Moulin de Clan, before finding fame as the famous libertarian poet-singer of Montmartre hill. Literary history enthusiasts can follow the tour to discover a bibliophilic collection of rare and precious works by François Villon, Jehan de Meung and Alexandre Dumas, all of whom depicted Meung-sur-Loire in their work. Featuring amongst the incredible works are a book dating back to 1521 (the oldest in the collection) and a beautiful, colour, illustrated facsimile of Roman de la Rose, preserved in New York.
