Summer in the parks and gardens of the Loire Valley!

The best season for parks and gardens has arrived! For the occasion, they are in full bloom and will be hosting events that promise to be as wonderful as their flowers are beautiful!
The Jardin des Plantes in Nantes, composed of 7 hectares of greenery in the heart of the city, is listed as a Remarkable Garden. As you walk through it you will discover surprising creatures such as a giant frog and chick, a series of unusual benches and even some farm animals. A very pleasant botanical break!
A romantic walk with a taste of Italy awaits visitors near Clisson. The Garenne-Lemot garden is home to huge trees that are several hundreds of years old, a stream, the Sèvre Nantaise and a rich variety of flora and fauna. The park belongs to the Domain of La Garenne-Lemot, which also hosts temporary exhibitions all year round. A green and cultural Italian-style visit!
For those interested in phytotherapy, the Camifolia garden in Chemillé­-Melay is the perfect place to visit! Learn to recognise aromatic plants and their medicinal properties during workshops for all ages. Presentations, temporary exhibitions and other events are also held. Treat yourself to a good time!
The first theme park in Europe dedicated to the plant world is in Angers! Terra Botanica welcomes young and old for yet another season filled with new experiences including magical fairytale-like shows, a 4D dynamic cinema at the wheel of a jeep taking visitors through the land of the dinosaurs and kitchen garden events. There’s plenty of reasons to go green!
Garden walks, themed discoveries (vegetable garden, orchard etc.), a butterfly house, multi-person bike rides, reading in a deckchair... There’s visits and fun for all the family at the Parc Floral de la Source in Orléans. Late openings, children’s activities and other events are also held throughout the season!

Stroll through the gardens at the Château of Villandry, whose famous ornamental kitchen garden combines flowers and vegetables in a patchwork of colour. In summer, the “Nuits des Mille Feux” events unveil the gardens illuminated by 2,000 candles. In September, meet the gardeners of Villandry during the Journées du Potager days dedicated to the kitchen garden, when they will share their advice and expertise with you.
In the heart of the Domain of Chaumont-sur-Loire, the 10th art season at the Arts and Nature Centre will be presenting the works of 15 or so artists showcased in the different spaces of the Domain. The 2018 International Garden Festival, on the theme of “Gardens of thought”, will unveil new works with plenty of surprises! The gardens can also be visited at night in a poetic ambiance.
Enter the magical world of the Château of Le Rivau and its 14 fairytale-like gardens. In mid-August, the Lords of Le Rivau and the Lords of Brézé come head to head in a convivial medieval jousting contest. In September, the Fête de la Citrouille et du Potager (Pumpkin and Kitchen garden party) celebrates Cucurbitaceae with multiple events and activities for young and old! 
Discover, in an electric car or by boat, a sea of lawn, a highly contemporary romantic garden, a colourful flower-cum-vegetable garden and an extensive park… Take a wander through the different parts of the estate of the Château of Cheverny. In late June, jazzy airs from the Jazz’in Cheverny festival echo through the heart of the estate!
At the National Arboretum of Les Barres, admire nearly 2,600 species of trees and shrubs from five continents! Follow the Continentalis, Classifica or Bizarretum circuits where you will discover, learn and be amazed. In August, a night-time show is organised by the Grandes Nuits de l’Arboretum combining theatre and opera. You can even bring a picnic to make the most of the fine summer evenings.
